Girls Rock! Brisbane (GR!BNE) is primarily a volunteer-run organisation, and relies on the support of our community to provide opportunities for kids from low-income or other disadvantaged backgrounds.

Our costs include fees for specialty workshop facilitators, equipment and sound engineers, catering, advertising, earplugs, stationery, printing, mentor stipends, to name but a few.

According to the ABS, about one-fifth of children play a musical instrument outside of school – but girls’ participation is lower than boys’. Women also represent just 20 per cent of songwriters and composers registered with APRA.

GR!BNE works to identify and break down the barriers to participation in music in young female, trans, and gender diverse people, by creating an inclusive and fun environment that is also accessible to disadvantaged youth.

We are hoping to fundraise enough money to continue to offer financial aid in the way of either half-fee places or full scholarships ($0 fee) to 50 per cent of the participants at each of our music camps. This allows children from low income or otherwise disadvantaged backgrounds to experience the joy of music and community that they may not otherwise be able to afford.

Donate funds

Your donation may be used in any of the following ways:

  • $10 helps provide ear protection for campers during their rehearsals and lunchtime gigs.
  • $50 provides healthy lunches and snacks all week for a camper.
  • $100 helps offset the cost of a screen printing workshop where campers make t-shirts with their band logos.
  • $235 will sponsor a camper from a disadvantaged background on a half scholarship.
  • $470 will sponsor a camper from a disadvantaged background on a full scholarship.
