GR!BNE aims to bring young emerging musicians together with mentors to develop skills and confidence in music while learning to take pride in their accomplishments.

Be part of GR!BNE and help young girls write songs and find their voice! We have a range of direct mentorship and indirect mentorship volunteer opportunities available.

Every volunteer must:

  • be 18 years or older
  • hold a current Blue Card (or be willing to acquire one – we can assist you with this)
  • be interviewed by the Volunteer Coordinator (either in person or via Skype)

Please note GR!BNE is run by volunteers. We are hoping to secure a grant that will allow us to pay our hard-working volunteers a stipend (to cover travel costs and incidentals).

Direct Mentorship Roles

Direct Mentorship positions are open to individuals who self-identify as female, trans* (regardless of identity), or gender non-conforming.

Campers possess a range of skill levels – some have never picked up an instrument, while others have been playing for years. Instructors teach small groups of 5-10 campers, and are responsible for working with other instructors to plan lessons, teach instruments and create a supportive learning environment.
Time commitment: Monday 9am-4pm, Tue-Fri 9am-12pm, Saturday showcase 11am-4pm

Band Coach (musical experience required): Band coaches are assigned to one band for the duration of the week. Working with a band manager, you will monitor each band practice and help the band members prepare for their live performance at the end of the week. As band coach, you will guide the girls in all aspects of working in a band including setting up, tuning, songwriting, stage presence learning to play as a group and learning to listen to one another.

The lead roadie is in charge of the setup, breakdown, and moving of equipment throughout the week, coordinating the roadies. Primary responsibilities include setting up equipment, overseeing the changeover of classrooms from instrument instruction to band practice every day, helping set up for lunchtime bands and troubleshooting gear.
